Wedding guest attire for hawaiian theme wedding?
My fiance and I are having a hawaiian themed wedding. We would like our guests to come in nice hawaiian attire, but we don't want jeans and t-shirts. I am afraid if I put "casual" on the invitation, that's what we'll end up with. How can I tell my guests that although it's not black-tie, it's not jeans and t-shirts either. (Hawaiian shirts and dresses or sarongs would be acceptable.)
I did this (we had a tropical island theme, so we incorporated stuff from the Caribbean as well as Hawaii) and I called it Caribbean Casual attire. I also went in to further detail about that on my wedding website, which I included the address for in my invite inserts.
If anyone is confused, they'll ask you. But my guests were able to interpret on their own that khakis and sundresses were appropriate. I had to convince them all that Hawaiian shirts were okay too! Believe me, no one will show up under dressed.
